Ok, I know everyone has them, but this past Sunday was a personal disaster.
We had probably the best Mid-week Rehearsal since I’ve taken the position here, and everything went smooth during the morning run through. The only visible obstacle going into the services was that our camera man was out so we had pulled some strings here and there to get that covered, but that shouldn’t have been that big of a deal.
So we get started and the opening worship song does great, the host enters the stage and does good, we move into this very powerful student baptism video and during the video I decide to hurry up and tune my acoustic. As the video is ending, I try to make a quick change on my high E string and the disaster begins. Out of the video, I was to lead us verbally into the thought of the next song (From the Inside Out) and I was to play through the intro of the song while I did that. So let me give you an equation: Dead quiet room + Acousitc Guitar – tune + Fumbling words due to the crisis = DISASTER.
Second service was much better, but I just could not let it go.
The songs this Sunday were:
You Are
From the Inside Out
Jesus Paid it All
The message was good and really probably saved the service.
However, the greatest thing that has happened in the last couple of days was the staff day we took Tuesday (yesterday). We listened to some great leadership talks and heard some pretty convicting principles. Let’s just say I’m going to start sleeping on the right side of the clock.
